It is no secret that the music scene has become pretty stagnant with lullaby tracks that put you to sleep and redundant club cuts that get burned out. As a music journalist, the pot of music had simmered down to the brown bits. I was glad to run across a main course. Jules & the Howl never, EVA, disappoints.
To quote LL Cool J, “don’t call it a comeback.” No – Jules & The Howl have never left; she has continued to rock out nationwide blazing a trail for her fans to follow. This Glam Rock powerhouse is synonymous for crafting gritty, mind-blown, songs that tell a story.
And with our society, and political atmosphere, so wound tight and ready to cage those who express themselves, preying on the weak and voiceless, it is time for an anthem that screams FREEDOM and RESPECT. Jules & the Howl’s latest track, “Boys Club,” will put many of her competitors to shame. Packed with an infectious hook, riveting guitar riffs, and check this out, actually someone singing, this anthem is a perfect start to 2025. The song is about tearing down male domination along with a beacon to the masses for freedom and respect. The boys club is a metaphor for “patriarchal norms and exclusion of women,” and who else can bring the noise, but Jules & The Howl?
The lyrics sing: I’m a rebel can you see . . . breaking walls and making history . . . I want you to stand up, bust through all the noise, I want you to stand up, use your voice, I want you to stand up, fight for the choice, I want you to stand up, burning down the boys club.” Give me a HOWL if you know what I am talking about! I can’t wait to hear more.
